Assistant Professor Biological Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Miami invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Biological Anthropology, to begin August of 2019. Preference will be given to an anthropological primatologist who will advance our departmental commitment to a robust four-field approach. We are open to a range of research, including behavior, communication, biogeography, ecology, evolution, genetics, and functional morphology, and to any geographic and taxonomic specialization. The successful applicant will have an established record of original research, funding, teaching, and publication, with a clear framework for continued progress in these areas. The candidate should demonstrate how undergraduate and graduate students would be engaged in those efforts. A Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field must be in-hand by the position start date.

Responsibilities: Teaching duties include two courses per semester at the introductory, advanced undergraduate, and graduate levels. The candidate will develop additional classes, perform undergraduate and graduate advising, and supervise graduate and undergraduate student research. The ideal candidate will commit to teaching a primatology field school and also will contribute to the development of our graduate curricula. Demonstrable service in the habitat country or community is also desirable. Other duties include departmental and university-level service on committees, working groups, etc., as directed by the Chair.
