Postdoc Position in Human Evolutionary Ecology (1y, ~$50k)

The Human Ecology Group, led by Prof. Dr. Adrian V. Jaeggi, at the Institute of Evolutionary Medicine (IEM) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to research on the Tsimané of Bolivia. Possible topics include the influence of socio-ecological conditions on health outcomes, ultimate and proximate explanations for variation in social phenotypes, or others according to the successful applicant’s interests and experience. This work will be conducted in collaboration with the Tsimané Health and Life History Project (http://www.unm.edu/~tsimane/) and will be able to draw from a wealth of existing data and/or benefit from ideal conditions for original field research.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in evolutionary anthropology or related fields, a strong background in statistical methods and coding in R, and/or ample experience conducting field research in a small-scale society. We offer an initial 1-year contract (extensions possible pending funding) with a 50% appointment, an internationally competitive salary (ca. CHF 50’000 plus social security contributions), as well as substantial research and travel funds.
