Required Qualifications: For all ranks: Ph.D. in anthropology or human evolutionary biology; theoretically motivated research; desire and ability to contribute to growth and excellence of a Ph.D. program broadly engaging ecology and environmental issues; desire and ability to educate and mentor anthropology students with either academic or applied career goals; and successful external granting and publication. For consideration as Associate Professor, candidates must have a strong history of external granting and publication, a record of successful teaching, and experience in department, university, and professional service. For consideration as full Professor, candidates must have a very strong history of external granting and publication, a record of successful teaching, and experience in department, university, and professional service. Tenure is contingent on Board of Regents approval.

Preferred Qualifications: excellence in teaching; fluency across a broad spectrum of theory in anthropology and biology; laboratory and/or field/laboratory integrated methods; strong quantitative background; commitment to multidisciplinary anthropology; interests that complement existing faculty specializations; and potential to contribute to developing university-wide, interdisciplinary areas of collaborative excellence.

Responsibilities in addition to research: teaching introductory courses in general anthropology and biological anthropology, elective undergraduate courses, and core and elective graduate-level courses in areas of specialization; mentoring graduate students in the department’s M.A. and Ph.D. programs; undertaking department and college service responsibilities.

Applicants must submit: a letter of application describing research, teaching, and service; a curriculum vitae; sample publications; and the names, addresses, email, and phone numbers of three references.
