Assistant Professor Clinical Anatomy

The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University invites applications for a limited-term (up to 5 years, renewable) faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the area of Clinical Anatomy. The Division of Clinical Anatomy, within the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, consists of a highly motivated group of educators, responsible for teaching the sub-disciplines of anatomy to students in medicine, dentistry and other applied health science professions. Members of the Division are also actively involved in either basic and clinically/surgically relevant research, or educational scholarship and research, including the design, testing and evaluation of innovative teaching materials and learning theories. The Division’s successful Master of Clinical Anatomy program, the first of its kind in Canada, has expanded to include PhD training.

Applications will be considered from candidates with a PhD, MD or DDS (or equivalent) degree, with a strong background and demonstrated excellence in pedagogy of classroom and laboratory teaching of gross anatomy, embryology, and histology. Candidates will be expected to be able to integrate the basic anatomical sciences into a clinical context, coordinate graduate level courses and instruct in upper year medical education courses. Not only will the successful candidate be expected to take an active part in the teaching, student mentorship, and administration within the Division but also to play a key role in the development of Master of Clinical Anatomy research projects in the multiple avenues of education scholarship, basic and clinical research. A successful candidate will be expected to take on leadership opportunities in program coordination and administration at the division, program and faculty levels.
