Lecturer in Biological Anthropology (Bioarchaeology)

The School of Archaeology and Anthropology in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a biological anthropologist broadly specialising in bioarchaeology to contribute to its research and teaching program, commencing in 2016. We seek to appoint a lecturer with an active commitment to research, who is able to translate that research interest into lively and engaging courses taught at the undergraduate level and above, and to supervise postgraduate research students. That person will be able to demonstrate energy and expertise in teaching, research and publication, at an early-career level. The successful candidate will be able to deliver existing courses in skeletal analysis, ancient health and disease and forensic anthropology and will also be expected to develop their own courses and teaching program in bioarchaeology that complements existing course offerings within the discipline of biological anthropology in the School. The principal research skill sets sought are those of a bioarchaeologist in any aspect of ancient human health, disease and/or behaviour. The appointee will also be required to contribute to the Honours program, potentially supervise graduate students, and undertake a modest, proportionate role in School administration.
