Tenure-track position in Archaeology
The Department of Anthropology at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, invites applications for a tenure stream appointment in prehistoric (pre-contact) archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor, with a preferred effective start date of July 1, 2016 (subject to final budgetary approval). Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in anthropological archaeology, demonstrate excellence in both teaching and research, and be willing to actively participate in service. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, primarily in prehistory and in archaeological theory and methods. The Department of Anthropology at UNB─F offers a comprehensive Master of Arts program in three subfields of anthropology, and is the only department in the Maritime Provinces to offer a graduate program in anthropological archaeology. We expect the successful candidate to develop an active, externally funded research program in archaeology and to develop capacity for training students in archaeological field and research methods. We will consider applicants who can support our current departmental strengths in First Nations regional and coastal archaeology, such as through a focus in geoarchaeology, or zooarchaeology. We will favour applicants with ongoing research programs in regional coastal archaeology, or those who are conducting coastal archaeological research in other geographic areas.
Candidates should forward a letter of application describing their teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, and arrange to have three confidential letters of recommendation sent to:
