K-12 Resources
This section includes summaries of and links to freely available biological anthropology-related lesson plans and activities developed for the K-12 classroom. If you are a K-12 educator or an anthropologist visiting a K-12 classroom, we encourage you to explore them.
The AABA Education Committee has curated these lessons from multiple institutions and organizations and has annotated them with summary information, including (when possible) a lesson overview and goals, appropriate grade levels, materials needed, and keywords related to the lesson.
The AABA Education Committee has not evaluated these lessons for alignment with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS); however, the NGSS dimensions (science and engineering practices, disciplinary core ideas, and crosscutting concepts) listed below are relevant to many of the lessons. To assess if a lesson aligns with NGSS, we recommend using the EQuIP Rubric for Science, available at nextgenscience.org.
