The National Waiting Times Centre (part of NHS Scotland) is offering exciting opportunities for Physician Assistants/Associates to join an expanding orthopaedic service from August 2017. At present, we have 3 Physician Assistants who are an integral part of a clinical team which includes 15 full-time Orthopaedic Consultants, fellows, and trainees. You will provide a service within the Orthopaedic Department which will include seeing new patients in pre-operative assessment clinics, ward rounds, assisting in theatre, and seeing patients in review clinics. In addition, there are opportunities to become involved in research/audit activity.
The unit is the largest arthroplasty centre in Scotland and one of the largest centres in the UK, performing over 3,600 primary and revision hip/knee operations per year. We also perform over 800 other procedures such as knee arthroscopy, hand operations, and a full range of foot and ankle procedures including total ankle replacement.
You will be a qualified Physician Assistant/Physician Associate who will work alongside a surgeon to deliver high quality evidence based clinical care as part of a multi-disciplinary team in order to provide a wide range of healthcare services to patients. Qualified candidates will have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant/Physician Associate program in the US or UK and will have passed their respective certification exam (PA-C/PA-R).
