Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at Montclair State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology, beginning Fall 2018. We seek applicants who share our commitment to community engagement and social justice, who can integrate it into their teaching and scholarship, and who can create field opportunities for students. We are particularly interested in individuals whose research utilizes a biocultural approach to human biology. We seek a colleague with strong experience in public health and/or medical humanities, and whose research focuses on human social inequality, in order to complement the department’s existing strengths. Applicants must be able and willing to teach introductory laboratory-based courses in Physical Anthropology. Geographic area is open. Applicants with the potential to bring to their academic careers the critical perspectives that arise from the experience of groups historically underrepresented in higher education in the United States are particularly encouraged to apply. Ph.D. in anthropology or related field with focus in biological anthropology.
