POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR IN CRANIOFACIAL DEVELOPMENT, DISEASE AND EVOLUTION

The Department of Anthropology at the Pennsylvania State University (http://anth.la.psu.edu/) is seeking excellent candidates for the position of postdoctoral scholar to join a collaborative research project investigating the interaction of the brain, chondrocranium and dermatocranium in the development and evolution of cranial shape. This postdoc position is part of NIH-funded collaborative projects (see below for links to abstracts of funded projects through NIH reporter).
The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong working knowledge of craniofacial anatomy (especially prenatal) and have experience with current methods used to quantify growing bone, either wet-lab (e.g., histology, immunohistochemistry) or morphometric approaches, as well as techniques used in microCT imaging, processing, and analysis. Experience with software packages such as Avizo ImageJ, and R preferred but not required. Coding is a plus. The anticipated start date for this position is Spring 2018 but is negotiable. The position will last one year with the opportunity of renewal for a second year. The qualified candidate must hold a PhD degree or have completed all of the requirements for a PhD by the time of appointment.
