Assistant Professor of Anthropology – Biological or Forensic
Eastern New Mexico University’s Department of Anthropology and Applied Archaeology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Forensic Anthropology or Biological Anthropology position, who also will serve as the Director of our Forensic Science Program, to begin in January 2019. ENMU seeks candidates with a commitment to excellent undergraduate and graduate education and student success within the framework of the teacher-scholar model. The core focus of our department is its hands-on scientific approach to anthropology that enables engaged learning and supports a research-based Master’s degree program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach a range of general undergraduate and graduate courses in forensic science and biological anthropology, as well as courses within the new faculty member’s specialty
• Guide the operation of the Forensic Science program, including curriculum development and program assessment
• Engage in scholarly activities
• Supervise graduate research and thesis writing
• Advise students effectively
• Participate in curriculum development
• Serve the profession and the department, college, and university communities
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology or related field of Forensic Science (ABD will be considered)
• Preference given to candidates with experience in the application of osteological analyses in a medicolegal setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and willingness to teach using traditional and distance education technologies
• Experience analyzing human skeletal remains
• Ability to effectively direct a program with faculty from other disciplines and students in a variety of emphasis areas
• Ability to effectively advise students and their organizations
• Ability to work well in a collegial setting
