Assistant Professor – Biological Anthropology

The Ithaca College Department of Anthropology (located in Ithaca, NY) invites applications for a full time, tenure-eligible Assistant Professor position in biological anthropology effective August 16, 2019. Preference is given to candidates who specialize in primatology or anthropological human biology. The position involves: teaching undergraduate courses in biological anthropology appropriate to the candidate’s expertise and the department’s needs including introductory courses and a methods course; supervising undergraduate research/field experiences; conducting and publishing research; advising students; and participating in service obligations.

Position qualifications include the following: a PhD in Anthropology at time of appointment; demonstrated effectiveness of teaching; an active program of research that will involve undergraduates; a commitment to the creation of an inclusive educational experience; and an enthusiasm for working effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students. Preference will be given to candidates who value the intersections of the subdisciplines of anthropology and demonstrate this in their teaching and/or research.
