Postdoctoral Research Associate, molecular anthropological genetics

Position Description
The Department of Anthropology is searching for a full-time postdoctoral Research Associate. Applicants will have broad interests in the evolutionary anthropology of living humans. Job duties will be adapted based on the interests and career goals of the postdoctoral fellow. While this is a research, not a teaching position, there may be teaching opportunities available if desired by the fellow. The fellow is likely to work on projects investigating telomere biology using data and samples from the Cebu Longitudinal Health and Nutrition Survey, The Tsimane Health and Life History Project, and other samples.

Note: The University of Washington restricts Research Associate appointments to a total of five years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at other institutions.

Qualifications
By the start date, all elements of the PhD should be completed and the degree conferred in biological anthropology, or similar field, with an emphasis on molecular genetics preferred.

Additional required qualifications:

Research interests that are appropriate to the Anthropological Genetics Lab.
Experience with molecular genetics laboratory techniques including DNA extraction, PCR and ideally qPCR.
Strong organizational skills both inside and outside of the lab are essential.
Demonstrated ability to publish in English-language peer-reviewed journals.
