Position Summary:

Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a human anatomist to participate in the delivery of our integrated medical curriculum on our Athens, Ohio Campus. The primary responsibilities will be to participate in the teaching of anatomical sciences and engage in curricular development and implementation at a medical school level. The ideal applicant(s) will have a background in teaching dissection-based human gross anatomy and the current ability to instruct in one or more complementary areas such as histology, neuroanatomy, embryology, physiology, or pathophysiology. We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence and innovation in medical education with an emphasis on active learning. The selected candidate(s) will join a diverse group of faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/about/departments/biomedical/faculty-and-staff-directory) , which will allow the successful candidate to gain training and expertise in additional disciplines.

This faculty position is non-tenure track and will be hired at the open rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction, Associate Professor of Instruction or Professor of Instruction, depending on the experience and credentials of the applicant. The position is eligible for promotion up to the rank of Professor of Instruction, and after a 5-year period of satisfactory performance, multi-year contracts of up to 5 years are possible. Duties will be divided between medical education and service. The position will be based at the Athens campus and will begin July 1, 2021. Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum requirements include a doctoral degree (i.e., PhD, DO, MD) with teaching experience in a health sciences academic environment, experience teaching dissection-based human gross anatomy, and the current ability to instruct in one or more complementary areas such as histology, neuroanatomy, or embryology, physiology, or pathophysiology. We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence and innovation in medical education with an emphasis on active learning.
