General Information: Duke University's Trinity College of Arts and Sciences seeks candidates for three tenure/tenure-track professorships in the study of Native, Indigenous, and/or First Nations people of the Americas. These hires are part of a sustained commitment by Trinity College of Arts and Sciences to increase the expertise and representation of Native American and Indigenous studies across core departments. Candidates will be considered in the context of the hiring department, with an interest to increase the representation of these studies across arts and sciences. Tenure will be located in humanities, natural science, or social science departments; applicants to the first round of the search will be considered by the departments of Art, Art History & Visual Studies (AAHV), African and African American Studies (AAAS), Biology, Cultural Anthropology, Evolutionary Anthropology, Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies (GSF), History, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Romance Studies.

The first round of applicants should submit materials by March 17, 2021. Please submit a cover letter, cv, work sample (an article or a chapter), and the names of three references. Candidates should also indicate their preferred primary department and, where applicable, the secondary department. Qualifications: Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline

Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a sustained commitment in scholarship, teaching and service to working closely with Native American Nations and populations writ large or on projects directly addressing the interests, perspectives and needs of Native communities. Those who have demonstrated intercultural competence and candidates whose work is transdisciplinary are especially encouraged to apply.
