Visiting Assistant Professorship

The Department of Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke University is seeking applications for a Visiting Assistant Professorship in any one or combination of the following areas: 1) primate behavior, ecology and conservation and/or human behavioral ecology and 2) human and primate anatomy and/or human variation. The ability to teach both introductory and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area(s) is required and candidates should be prepared to teach Introduction to Evolutionary Anthropology. Opportunities for professional research development include anatomical collections, fossil collections, laboratory facilities, a microCT facility and SEM facility. Applicants may also find research opportunities available through the Duke Lemur Center, the Nicholas School of the Environment, the Center for Tropical Conservation, and the Duke Population Research Institute.

The candidate should have a PhD in biological anthropology or a related area (for those nearing completion of a PhD, degree must be completed no later than May 2015). The position is for one year with annual renewals possible contingent on satisfactory performance, budgetary constraints, and need.
