The Department of Integrative Anatomical Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is searching for a post-doctoral teaching fellow to teach gross anatomy and related courses in the Master of Science in Integrative Anatomical Sciences program. Specific teaching responsibilities include directing an intensive, 8-week summer gross anatomy course, which begins on June 12, 2023, as well as a supporting role in an additional course (specific course dependent on previous experience). The successful applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching.

There are ample opportunities for collaboration within the department, whose faculty have a strong focus on evolutionary morphology of mammals (Drs. Kristian Carlson, Adam Huttenlocker, Addison Kemp, Kristi Lewton, Craig McGowan, Biren Patel, and Erik Seiffert), as well as with basic sciences and clinical faculty throughout the Keck School of Medicine, the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences (Drs. Craig Stanford and David Raichlen), the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, and others. Teaching utilizes our newly-renovated gross anatomy lab, featuring traditional dissection and extensive computer-based technologies. Information about the department is at https://keck.usc.edu/integrative-anatomical-sciences/.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree (ABD applicants will also be considered) • Prior experience teaching cadaveric human gross anatomy • A strong commitment to research in some area of the anatomical sciences, ideally evolutionary morphology

To apply, submit the following:

• Cover letter • Curriculum Vitae • Statement of teaching experience • Summary of research/scholarly interests and accomplishments • Contact information for 3-5 professional references including e-mail addresses. (Reference letters are not required at this time).

Applicants should send application materials (as a single PDF document) directed to Dr. Kristi Lewton, USC Postdoctoral Search Committee, at [email protected]. In addition, the full application must be submitted electronically online through USC’s Employee Recruitment Services at https://usccareers.usc.edu/job/los-angeles/postdoctoral-scholar-teaching-fellow/1209/39794099168 (Requisition 20126536). Application review will begin December 1, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. The position start date is flexible and can be as early as January 1, 2023 or as late as April 15, 2023.

This is a 2-year position, potentially renewable for a third year with permission of the department chair. The fellow will receive a salary and benefits commensurate with training and experience. For questions, please contact Dr. Kristi Lewton: [email protected]
