Postdoctoral Scholar – Teaching Fellow (Gross Anatomy)

The Department of Integrative Anatomical Sciences (IAS) is searching for a Postdoctoral Scholar – Teaching Fellow to teach gross anatomy in the department’s graduate (MS and PhD) programs. The primary teaching responsibility is direction of an intensive, 8-week summer gross anatomy course for IAS graduate students, which begins on June 10, 2024. We hope to fill this position by May 1, 2024, or very soon thereafter. Review of applications will begin immediately.

While the successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, the department is also interested in recruiting individuals with a strong commitment to research in some area of the anatomical sciences, ideally evolutionary and/or functional morphology. There are ample opportunities for collaboration within the department, whose faculty and current postdoctoral scholars have a strong focus on evolutionary and functional morphology of mammals (Drs. Kristian Carlson, Wren Edwards, Steven Heritage, Adam Huttenlocker, Tea Jashashvili, Addison Kemp, Kristi Lewton, Craig McGowan, Biren Patel, Erik Seiffert, and Zana Sims), as well as with basic sciences and clinical faculty throughout the Keck School of Medicine, the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, and others. This is a 2-year position, potentially renewable for a third year with permission of the department chair. The fellow will receive a salary and benefits commensurate with training and experience. The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 – $75,000. Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree (Ph.D. degree must have been awarded before the start date of the appointment).
• Prior experience teaching cadaveric human gross anatomy.
• Research interests in some area of the anatomical sciences, ideally evolutionary and functional morphology.
