Assistant Professor, Biological/Physical Anthropology
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA CRUZ
DEPARTMENT OF ANTHROPOLOGY
Assistant Professor, Biological/Physical Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biological/Physical Anthropology, at the assistant professor level beginning July 1, 2016. The department prefers scholars focusing on human ecology, whose work speaks to our interests in human diet, health, and disease in pre-historic, historic, and contemporary populations, as well as the longue durée of human migration and environmental change and adaptation. A researcher specializing in modern methodological and technological approaches to these questions e.g. with a research focus on bone stable isotopes, trace elements, proteomics or microbiome genomics would be a particularly good fit for our department and the UCSC research community. We especially want to encourage individuals to apply that are willing to contribute to the interdisciplinary dialog between the anthropological subfields and other disciplines found on campus.
Active research projects with the potential for involving graduate students would be crucial to this position. The successful candidate will contribute to our emerging biological anthropology subfield and must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and/or service.
