Research Assistant: Mercyhurst University

The Department of Applied Forensic Sciences at Mercyhurst University is seeking applications for a paid, full-time, two-year Research Assistant position, beginning January 1, 2016. The Research Assistant will be responsible for collecting and analyzing human skeletal growth and development data as part of a recently funded NIJ project in collaboration with Idaho State University (2015-DN-BX-K009). Applicants should have experience working with CT data and proficient knowledge of juvenile osteology. Preference will be given to applicants who have prior experience using AMIRA/OsiriX, some statistical knowledge, and research interests that align with the scope of the project. Although the position is based in Erie, PA, it will require domestic travel for extended periods, thus one must be able to maintain professional integrity and work independently with little to no supervision. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in a related field; however, ABD students and individuals with a M.A./M.S. are encouraged to apply.

Day-to-day activities include: the implementation of research design and methodology; domestic travel for data collection; database maintenance, which may include entering, tracking, cleaning and preparing data for analyses; conducting statistical analyses; and preparing and contributing to manuscripts, conference presentations, and progress reports.
