Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California: Assistant/Associate Professor – Histology

The Department of Cell and Neurobiology invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the non-tenure Clinical Educator track. The position will begin July 1, 2016 or shortly thereafter. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., and/or equivalent degree, and have prior experience in teaching histology to health professional students. The primary responsibility will be to fulfill the department’s obligation for continued excellence in teaching histology with a clinical emphasis in an integrated medical curriculum. The ability to contribute to the teaching of gross anatomy or neuroanatomy is also desirable, but not necessary. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and teaching leadership, and the person selected is expected to make significant contributions to innovation in applying new communication and technology tools to best meet the needs of 21st Century students in mastering the histology relevant to their careers in medicine. Applicants must also have a strong commitment to continued research in the anatomical sciences, and we encourage applications from productive scholars who focus on musculoskeletal or virtual hard tissue (bone/dental microstructure) histomorphometry while addressing evolutionary and functional questions. There are ample opportunities for collaboration with the department’s faculty, including Michael Habib, Kristi Lewton, and Biren Patel, as well as with basic sciences and clinical faculty throughout the Keck School of Medicine, the Viterbi School of Engineering, and the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, and others.
