Assistant Professor Biological Anthropology

Purdue University Department of Anthropology invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology to begin August 2017. Area of specialization may include past or present humans or non-human primates with a preference for research interests in diet, nutrition, and/or biocultural aspects of food; other specializations will be considered. Research should complement current faculty interests in health and the environment.

We seek applicants with an excellent record of scholarly publications and funding, teaching experience, and an active research agenda. The position will require conducting original research, undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring, as well as participation in departmental and university administrative activities. An ability to link to Purdue programs or centers addressing society’s grand challenges is preferred (e.g., interdisciplinary studies programs in the College of Liberal Arts or University: Ingestive Behavior Research Center, Centers for Aging and the Life Course, Research on Diversity and Inclusion, The Environment, and Discovery Park). Evidence of strong teaching skills is desired. Potential courses include introductory, advanced, and graduate courses in biological anthropology, nutrition, health, laboratory methods, and specialty courses in the candidate’s research area. A Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field is required.
