The Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice (Forensic Anthropology) line is a collaboration between UWF and the Florida District 1 Medical Examiner’s Office (D1MEO) with dual, equal responsibilities at both institutions. Casework, outreach, student supervision and training, and cold-case management undertaken at the Santa Rosa County D1MEO facility will count as research and service for the purposes of UWF promotion, allowing the Clinical Assistant Professor to focus exclusively on teaching and graduate mentorship while at UWF. They will teach the equivalent of three courses per year, including at least one course in the fall and one in the spring (the third constituting either a fall/spring course or a summer course).
PhD in Anthropology (ABD candidates may apply; degree must be in hand by start date August 2025), D-ABFA, or D-ABFA “exam eligible” (i.e., A-ABFA with intention to sit for D-ABFA exam within two years of beginning employment), promotion will be contingent on securing D-ABFA certification; forensic anthropological laboratory and field experience; experience teaching biological anthropology courses. Candidate must have forensic anthropological laboratory and field experience, including cold cases, trauma analyses, and processing death scenes, and experience teaching biological anthropology courses. Experience in grant writing also preferred.
