Position Description
The McGill University Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Division of Anatomical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer. This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is part of the School of Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Division of Anatomical Sciences. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate aptitude, enthusiasm, and excellence in teaching; they will also be expected to coordinate and teach human anatomy lectures and laboratory demonstrations (i.e., dissection and prosection-based).
The incumbent will be expected to generate and supervise the production of prosected cadaveric specimens (e.g., pre-dissected specimens) and assist in developing and generating pedagogical resources for McGill anatomy courses and external/professional development workshops). The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in committees and other service roles while involved in discussing best teaching practices within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the University. Other tasks may include the following:
• Coordinating and instructing extracurricular cadaveric laboratory-based teaching across
multiple health professional programs;
• Supervising students in medical and health sciences education research and/or anatomical
sciences research and;
• Assisting with the coordination and teaching of external/professional development
workshops.
The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements
The incumbent must have a strong background in human anatomy especially in neuroanatomy, and cadaveric dissection. They should have experience in coordinating and teaching lectures in anatomical sciences (primarily in neuroanatomy), and supervising laboratory demonstrations and dissections in health professional and health science programs, as well as supervising students in medical and health sciences education research and/or anatomical sciences research.
Candidates must have:
A PhD in Anatomy (or equivalent);
A demonstrated ability to teach all basic anatomical sciences, with a primary focus on neuroanatomy;
A demonstrated ability to teach human anatomy in the laboratory using human cadavers and cadaveric dissection and prosections;
Demonstrated dissection skills and a keen ability to guide students in full-body dissection laboratories;
Demonstrated organizational skills, and proven ability to work in a team;
A demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching and inclusive pedagogy;
Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within few years of appointment is preferred.
