Description of duties:
Under limited supervision and with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, performs complex research work by assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of specialized research projects. Manages the upkeep and supervision of specialized research equipment within area of assigned responsibility.
The following is a listing of typical duties that may be applicable to the position:
Researches novel biomolecular and/or biochemical approaches to human identification in forensic anthropology.
Tests the applicability of proteomics and other -omics to the process of human identification.
Develops, tests, and analyzes research projects based on application expertise and interest.
Aides in the development of a survey instrument, testing the instrument and disseminating the instrument.
Writes narrative summaries of the research results, and related tasks under the supervision of the faculty member assigned.
Conducts background research.
Develops and implements an evaluation plan and prepares progress reports as needed.
Studies, tests, and maintains accurate data identified as relevant and/or best practice systems from research results obtained through national studies.
Designs and implements training activities as required.
Publishes in peer-reviewed publications related to the focus of the research activities assigned.
Mentors undergraduate and graduate students.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education: Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Sciences, or related disciplines at the time of appointment from an accredited university.
