4th Annual Humboldt State University Anthropology Research Symposium
The symposium is a student led event that is supported by the Department of Anthropology, and College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The event will take place in the Kate Buchanan Room at Humboldt State University (HSU), Arcata, CA from 5PM-9PM on March 24th. The symposium showcases independent undergraduate and graduate research in all four sub-fields of anthropology. Some of this year’s presentations will include:
– Agricultural Development in Honduras
– American Civil Religion
– Creating Classrooms through Dynamic Dialogue
– The Public Health Concerns and Cultural Geography of the US/Mexico Border
– Sustainable Solutions: An Ethnographic Study on Challenges Facing Homesteaders in Humboldt County and on Reddit.com
– Within Inundation Zone: A Spatial Analysis of Cultural Resources Vulnerable to Sea Level Rise and Tsunami Impacts in Humboldt Bay, Northern, CA.
Students will present their research either with a poster or podium. Podium presentations will be limited to 15 minutes each, with 5 minutes allocated for Q&A. In addition to gaining valuable experience in a conference presentation environment, students will have the opportunity to digitize their work at the Digital Commons of HSU, as well as the prospect of publishing their work with the newly forged Humboldt State University Press.
Abstract submission deadline is February 12th, 2016 by 5PM.
