Trudy Turner — New Editor of AJPA

The AAPA Executive Committee and Paul-André Genest, Senior Editor at Wiley Publishers, are pleased to announce that Trudy Turner will become the next editor of the American Journal of Physical Anthropology effective April 1, 2019. We would like to congratulate Trudy as well as thank the outgoing AJPA editor, Peter Ellison for his five years of service to AJPA and AAPA. 

Trudy Turner is a Professor of Anthropology
and Secretary of the University at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an
affiliated faculty member in the Genetics Department at the University of the
Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa.  She
received her BA in Anthropology from Northwestern University, her MA and PhD in
Anthropology from New York University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship
in the Department of Genetics at the University of Michigan. She studies the
genetics and life history of savanna monkeys throughout Africa and the
Caribbean, with a special emphasis on South Africa. She has also written
extensively on ethics and on women in biological anthropology.  She has been an active member of the AAPA her
entire career, serving as the Secretary-Treasurer as well as on the Executive
Committee, and the Ethics, Publications, Student Awards, By-laws, Membership and
Data Access Committees. From 2012-2018 she served as Editor of the Yearbook of Physical Anthropology. She
is one of the co-founders of PEGG, the South African Primatology Society and is
currently the Treasurer of the International Primatological Society. In 2014, she received the Gabriel W.
Lasker Service Award from the AAPA.
